Lots of changes inside!

There have been lots of changes in our new house. I put these pictures in backward. Starting with what I wanted first and of course that is last. Sorry about that. Things are moving right along!

Scott's pride and joy--The D-mark in the master bedroom closet!

Lots of changes inside!

We called the construction supervisor today to see if we could go in the house and see all of the new changes. We met with Derrek and he let us in and talked to us about the house. All of the light fixtures and cabinetry are in. The electrical outlets, light switches and network drops are installed. Smoke detectors are in too. The have recently been working on touching up the texture on the walls an paint--that's why the brown paper is around.

Light fixtures in the master bath. Hanging down while they do some wall repairs.

Kitchen cabinets. they are maple with crown molding at the top. Counter top should be
installed tomorrow. At the front of this picture will be a breakfast bar with a counter top matching the kitchen.

Dining room light fixture.

Our house. Waiting for the fence to go in.

Built in cabinet at the top of the stairs. There is an outlet and a network drop (for the computers and cable tv)

Cabinets in the laundry area above the washer and dryer.

Vanity in the master bathroom. The faucets are brushed nickel.

Garden tub in the master bathroom.

One of the things that needs to be completed is a bridge that connects the current part of the plan we are in to the newer construction. According to Derrek the bridge is ready for black top and should be done by May 1. He thinks our house will be done by May 9 or 10. He tentatively gave an anticipated walk through date of May 17. I like Derrek's dates!

The outside is painted!

April 17 we arrived to find the outside of the house painted. It's finally starting to look more and more like a house than a construction lump. I was so glad to see that the color wasn't reddish color they use or green. Again we had no choice in the color. The doors were locked so for the first time we couldn't go in the house. We looked in the windows and it didn't appear that anything had been done inside. The hot water heater and garage door have been installed.

The scaffolding is gone!

The front door, free of scaffolding!
Upstairs, painted.

Daisy has to check out her new house too!

April 13, the first thing we noticed is that the scaffolding was gone and we could see the whole house. It was our first look at the interior after it was painted.

The inside is being painted.

April 11 we arrived to find that the inside was being painted. They were using a huge sprayer for the painting. Of course we didn't go in the house. The color is nothing exciting. Everything is white--no choice in that. We will paint once we are moved in and do it slowly.

The stucco is complete

April 10 we arrived to find that they had applied the final layer of stucco. We still didn't know what color it would be though. Not much happened inside.

Changes on the inside.

Entryway with texture on.
Pantry shelves
Walk in closet in Master Bedroom. Not the D-Mark on the Right.
Oustisde with the first round of stucco on. Right now it has a very fine type of texture. It is not as rough as the final layer will be.

Texture has been sprayed on the walls. The first layer of exterior texture has also been applied. It was really surprising how humid it was inside the house that evening. We aren't used to humidity in the desert! Interior doors and shelves have been installed.

The outside of the house.

Front.

Side. This is the side by the stairs. Those are the windows going up the stairs.
The back. The window is in the living room area.

The tour moves upstairs

At the top of the stairs. This is looking into the Master bedroom. The Laundry "closet" is on the right. To the left you can see the doorways of bedroom #4 and the hall bath.
Master bath. Tub and shower area. The shower will be enclosed with glass. I love the windows around the tub. They are textured glass. I think a few plants on the tub ledge will look lovely with all the light.
This is bedroom #4 it will be my stamping room. Also the room where the birds will sleep.
Hall bath.
This is also bedroom #2. It faces the front of the house. This bedroom will be the den/office.
This is the second floor of our house. I don't have any good pictures of the master bedroom or bedroom #3.

A tour of our house

Kitchen from the back door. The stove will be between the two small windows. The door from the garage is to the left. The pantry is to the left also. The counter will be a bar.
The dining area.

Living room/great room

The stairs. I love the windows along the stairs. There are 3 of them and at the top is a larger window of the same shape. You can see the front door and the small window by the entry.
The top of the stairs.

We had a "dusty walkthrough" so I thought it would be good to give a cyber tour of our house so far. This is what it looked like April 1--about 3 weeks after we committed to this house and first saw it framed.

Finishing the drywall

By the end of March they were starting to patch the seams and nail holes in the dry wall. We did notice that the workers were often there later in the evenings. We typically go over around 6 or 6:30 and its not unusual to see the he first pic is one of the workers mixing the compound to patch the drywall.

And of course, Daisy waiting patiently in the van while we looked around.

More changes on the inside

The rest of the dry wall went up. A paper on the window shows that the framing was inspected and ready for drywall.
We went and selected the flooring. Ceramic tile for the downstairs and the upstairs bathrooms. Carpet on the stairs, the bedrooms and upstairs hallway. Vinyl flooring in the laundry area--I figured that all that is seen is about 4 inches around the washer and dryer so what does it matter. LOL. The carpeting we picked is called spicecake.

Dry wall goes up

The drywall started going up. These pictures are 13 days after we first saw the house. This was the first time we took Daisy into the new house.

A first look inside

Scott got the first look at the inside of the house while I was out of town. He went with the construction manager for a dusty walkthrough. He was able to see how the house is insulated. He also saw the CAT5 cable going in and d-mark. I think the d-mark is one of his favorite features.

Moving along on the building process

The next few days there was progress on the outside of the house. The house was covered with external insulation, wrapped with tyvec, and then chicken wire in preparation for the stucco.
